Thankful Thursday - Mike's Story

I have had seizures since I was 5 yrs old when diagnosed. My first interaction with Empowering Epilepsy was when I attended their Brain Surgery conference in June of 2022. My doctor, Andreas Alexopoulos was speaking at Empowering Epilepsy headquarters, and I wanted to hear him speak. After learning more, I asked where was she for all of my life?

Leigh offers support groups for all ages - kids, teens, young adults, parents, adults, seniors, and bereavement groups.

She offers a Patient Education Folder for people with Epilepsy to better understand their diagnosis better, with information written by the top neurologists in the United States.

I have attended the following events with Empowering Epilepsy so far and gotten to meet so many more people with epilepsy:

• Art therapy for Epilepsy

• Functional Fitness

• Leprechaun Chase 5K

• Purple Day Bowling Party

• Top Golf Fundraiser

Every year I create a team for the Gunselman's Tavern Leprechaun chase and get a bunch of people to run on my team to support Empowering Epilepsy!

I wish an organization like this existed when I had my brain surgery in 2011 to support me.
