Changing the Conversation About Epilepsy,
One Film at a Time
September 24, 2026!
Under the Lights brings an authentic and deeply human epilepsy story to the screen.

The film follows Sam, a teenager living with epilepsy who wants what so many young people want: to fit in, experience life and be seen for who he is, not for his diagnosis. Determined to attend prom, Sam faces a difficult reality: the flashing lights that are part of the celebration could trigger a seizure.

For far too long, epilepsy has been misunderstood, misrepresented or simply absent from movies and popular culture. Yet 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy during their lifetime. Under the Lights helps bring that experience into the spotlight through a story about friendship, independence, acceptance and the desire to live life on your own terms.
A Story With a Personal Connection

Writer and director Miles Levin lives with epilepsy himself, bringing a perspective to the film that goes beyond simply portraying the condition on screen. What began as an acclaimed short film grew into a full-length feature designed to entertain audiences while helping spark a larger conversation about epilepsy.

Miles created this so people in the general public would grasp a better understanding of what living with epilepsy and seizures is really like. Miles' personal connection to epilepsy makes it real, and because of that, people with epilepsy want their loved ones to see this movie!

Under the Lights stars Pearce Joza, Tanyzn Crawford, Lake Bell, Randall Park and Nick Offerman.

Empowering Epilepsy is proud to bring this film to Northeast Ohio and create an opportunity for our community to come together, experience Sam's story and continue changing the conversation about epilepsy and seizures.
