Empowering Epilepsy was awarded a $5,000 Program Support
grant from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture for their Empowering Through the Arts - Art Therapy Program. This grant will allow Empowering Epilepsy to hold two monthly Art Therapy Classes for people living with epilepsy and their loved ones at our Empowering Epilepsy Headquarters, plus a third Art Therapy Class for caregivers and loved ones of people with epilepsy.
"People with epilepsy are amazing artists, writers, dancers, singers, and musicians," said Leigh Goldie, Founder and Executive Director of Empowering Epilepsy. "When we designed our new Empowering Epilepsy Headquarters, located on Mercantile Road in Beachwood, we designated a large room as our Art Therapy Room, specifically for a project like this. Here, people with epilepsy get to illustrate their artistic flare, and discover what they can do while living with seizures."
Art Therapy Classes will take place monthly on a Saturday afternoon, or on a weekday evening. They are led by a certified art therapist and are open to anyone who understands epilepsy and seizures.
